We recently spent two nights at Batam Marriott Harbour Bay during our weekend getaway, and the location alone made the stay incredibly convenient. From the beautiful interiors and variety of dining options to the pool, gym and warm hospitality, here's our honest take on what we loved about the hotel and our final verdict.
Planning a quick getaway from Singapore? Batam is one of the easiest destinations to escape to for a weekend, with frequent ferries and plenty of hotels to choose from.
For our recent trip, we stayed at Batam Marriott Hotel Harbour Bay for two nights, and after experiencing the hotel, its dining options and facilities, we've put together our complete review. From its unbeatable location right above the ferry terminal to its beautiful interiors and variety of restaurants, here's everything you need to know before booking your stay.
The Location: Our Favourite Thing About the Hotel
Let's start with what we think is one of the biggest advantages of staying at Batam Marriott Harbour Bay - the location. The hotel is located directly above Harbour Bay Ferry Terminal, which makes arriving in Batam incredibly convenient. After getting off the ferry, you don't need to arrange a long transfer or worry about navigating through the city with your luggage. The hotel is right there and you can just walk up to the lobby.
For a short weekend trip, this can make a big difference. You can get off the ferry, complete immigration and make your way to the hotel without spending much time travelling.
The hotel is also conveniently located for exploring some of Batam's popular attractions, and getting around was easy as we simply used Grab app to book cabs whenever we wanted to head out.
Grand Batam Mall - approximately 15 minutes away
Batam Zoo Paradise - approximately 20 minutes away
The Illusion - approximately 20 minutes away
If you're visiting Batam for a weekend and want to maximise your time, the location is hard to beat.
The Interiors: Elegant, Modern and Sophisticated
First impressions definitely count, and Batam Marriott Harbour Bay makes a good one. The lobby is grand and elegant, with a polished, contemporary aesthetic that immediately gives you that luxury holiday feeling. The combination of modern finishes, warm lighting and carefully curated décor creates a sophisticated yet welcoming atmosphere.
The interiors aren't limited to the lobby either. The same aesthetic continues through the rooms and other shared spaces, creating a cohesive feel throughout the hotel. The rooms are modern and comfortable, with warm wood tones and tasteful furnishings. The overall design strikes a nice balance between contemporary luxury and comfort.
We also loved the look and feel of the hotel's restaurants and lounge areas. Whether you're checking in, enjoying a meal or simply sitting down for a drink, the spaces feel polished and inviting.
Breakfast at Goji Kitchen + Bar
Breakfast can make a big difference to a hotel stay, and Goji Kitchen + Bar offers a generous spread with plenty of variety. You'll find a mix of local Indonesian dishes, Asian favourites and Western breakfast classics, so there's something for different tastes.
The buffet includes:
🥐 Fresh breads and pastries
🥦 Steamed vegetables
🥗 A salad bar
🍛 Local Indonesian favourites
🌶️ A selection of sambals
🌱 Indian vegetarian dishes
🌿 Plant-based meat and fish alternatives
🍉 Fresh fruits and yogurts
🧇 Waffles
🍩 Donuts
🍮 Indonesian desserts
🍦 Ice creams
☕ Tea and coffee
🥤 Fruit juices
🫖 Signature teh tarik
One thing we particularly appreciated was the variety of vegetarian options. There was plenty to choose from, making it easy to put together a satisfying breakfast without feeling limited. The buffet also had a good mix of sweet and savoury options, along with plenty of drinks to choose from.
Overall, it was a satisfying start to the day before heading out to explore Batam.
Five Dining Options Under One Roof
One of the things we really enjoyed about staying at Batam Marriott Harbour Bay was the variety of dining options available within the hotel.
While travelling with a kid, we don’t like to experiment too much by eating outside at a local restaurant, especially where we are unsure about the hygiene standards and the conditions in which the food is prepared. For us, that's one of the biggest reasons we choose to stay at a 5-star hotel. We feel reassured knowing that a hotel of this standard would not risk their reputation by compromising on food hygiene or the way food is prepared and handled.
With Batam Marriott we had peace of mind, while still offering plenty of variety across its five restaurants and dining spaces. We could enjoy different meals throughout our stay without having to leave the hotel every time we wanted to eat.
🥗 Goji Kitchen + Bar
Goji is the hotel's all-day dining restaurant and also where breakfast is served, offering a mix of international and local favourites.
We especially appreciated the separate vegetarian menu, which had a surprisingly wide variety of options. This made dining here particularly convenient for vegetarian guests.
During our stay, we mostly had our lunch and dinner at Goji, so clearly we found plenty to enjoy!
🥢 Jiang He
Jiang He is the hotel's Chinese restaurant, specialising in Cantonese cuisine and dim sum.
We had lunch here once during our stay and enjoyed the experience. The restaurant offers a more refined dining setting and is a good option when you're looking for something different from international and local cuisine.
☕ Mill & Co.
If you're looking for coffee and something sweet, Mill & Co. is the place to visit. The café offers freshly baked treats, cakes, puddings and coffee, making it a convenient spot for an afternoon pick-me-up or a casual sweet treat.
🥂 The Lounge
The Lounge offers a more relaxed setting where you can sit back with drinks and unwind. It's a comfortable space for enjoying a drink or simply taking a break between your Batam adventures.
🌇 Altitude Rooftop Bar & Lounge
For a drink with a view, head up to Altitude Rooftop Bar & Lounge. The rooftop setting offers panoramic views overlooking Harbour Bay, making it a lovely spot to relax in the evening and enjoy the atmosphere.
With Goji Kitchen + Bar, Jiang He, Mill & Co., The Lounge and Altitude Rooftop Bar & Lounge, the hotel has something for almost every mood and occasion.
We also found the service and atmosphere at both Goji and Jiang He to be warm and friendly.
Facilities: A Great Place to Unwind
Beyond the rooms and restaurants, Batam Marriott Harbour Bay has several facilities that make it easy to relax during your stay.
🏊 Infinity Swimming Pool
The infinity pool overlooks Harbour Bay and is a lovely place to spend a relaxing afternoon. After a morning of exploring Batam, it was nice to have somewhere to slow down and enjoy some downtime.
💪 Fitness Centre
The gym is spacious, modern and well-equipped, making it easy to fit in a workout during your stay. Whether you're looking for a quick session or want to maintain your regular workout routine while travelling, the facilities are more than adequate.
💆 Eska Spa
The spa was a nice way to unwind after a busy day of sightseeing and exploring. Our experience was good and relaxing, although it wasn't the particular highlight of our stay.
❤️ Friendly & Helpful Service
One thing that really stood out throughout our stay was the hospitality. The staff at the reception, Goji Kitchen + Bar and Jiang He were consistently warm, friendly and genuinely helpful. Their service added to the overall experience and made us feel welcome during our stay.
Our Final Verdict
After two nights at Batam Marriott Harbour Bay, we came away feeling that it's a great option for a convenient and comfortable weekend getaway from Singapore.
The location is unbeatable, being directly above Harbour Bay Ferry Terminal makes arriving and leaving incredibly easy. The hotel also offers beautiful interiors, a good breakfast spread, plenty of dining choices and good in-house facilities.
We particularly appreciated the dedicated vegetarian menu at Goji, the variety of restaurants within the hotel and the warm service from the staff we interacted with.
Here's how we rate our stay:

✨ Interiors: 4/5
🍳 Breakfast: 4/5
